SAIB presents the exhibition “Photography, a tale of distant peoples”

Today, Monday 10 January, the exhibition “Photography, a tale of distant peoples” opens its doors at Spazio 5 / A, the company showroom in Caorso. On stage a selection of images taken from Survival International’s “We, the people” calendars.

The global and holistic vision of the world and of those who live there is a principle that SAIB pursues every day. This is why it supports Survival International, the worldwide movement for indigenous peoples.

Guardians of the biodiversity of the most threatened territories of the planet and of ancestral knowledge, indigenous peoples live in harmony with nature, respecting it. They struggle every day to defend their lands, lives and cultures from greed and racism.
The exhibition set up at Spazio 5 / A, SAIB’s corporate showroom in Caorso, enhances an evocative cross-section of the tiring resistance of these peoples and their vision of the world through a selection of photographs from Survival International’s “We, the People” calendars (http://www.survival.it/shopping).

In esposizione 18 scatti di grande impatto realizzati in diverse parti del pianeta, dall’Africa al Tibet, dal Brasile al Canada, da celebri fotografi, spesso attivisti impegnati. Interpretazioni artistiche che ritraggono persone immortalate nel loro quotidiano, cristallizzate nella poesia della spontaneità.

The images on display interact with the panels of the Diplos and Istanti collections by SAIB used as supports, intertwining with them an aesthetic and human relationship at the same time.
If the surfaces with a strong chromatic and tactile impact interact with light and colors, the studied composition and the partnership between natives and nature that the images tell offer a profound level of reading, which is connected to the responsibility through which SAIB realizes its production using only wood at the end of its life without generating any impact on nature.

Survival International is the worldwide movement for indigenous peoples. Since 1969 it has been fighting for their survival all over the world.
Indigenous peoples are our contemporaries. They are neither primitive nor “savage villains” as some people sometimes claim. They have extraordinarily diverse and valuable technologies, laws, educational systems, religions, and social, political and economic structures.
They are the best conservationists and custodians of the natural world, and they help make the world a better place.
Nonetheless, indigenous peoples are threatened by racism, land theft, forced development and genocidal violence. Their human rights are violated and their lands are expropriated for profit causing poverty, disease and death.
